Using student business cards as a networking tool

If you are currently in school, but also looking for work, you should be aware of a new trend that is helping millions of students like you find employment. Student business cards are just what they sound like. Instead of advertising your profession, these cards let people know who you are and what skills and interests you have. General information like your name, address, phone number, e-mail address and or a personal web site are all obvious inclusions in your card design. But if you make use of both sides of the card, you can reveal a lot more about yourself. You should also include the name of the school you attend and your study major. Listing your career goals and objectives is also not a bad idea. Some people even print a small, condensed version of their resumes on the back of their student business cards.

As a student, your funds are probably fairly limited. Don't worry though. Most printers can print a batch of a thousand cards for less than the price of a keg of beer. And if you do all the design work yourself, you can save even more. Keeping a few student business cards in your wallet can be one of your most effective networking practices. Not only in your quest for employment, but also in building your social network. Whenever you meet anyone, you will enjoy the convenience and power of being able to hand over your personal information right then and there.
